counterlibidinal vibes

the libidinal attractions of consumer capitalism need to be met with a counterlibido, not simply an anti-libidinal dampening – Postcapitalist Desire: The Final Lectures

every once in a great while, someone messes with reality. you see power more clearly. you start seeing thinking about other trajectories and alignments, stuff from history.

are there organizers who can channel this thirst into something more? projects that can unite people IRL, affect conditions at scale, rooted in common experience instead of manufactured divisions, accessible to the average person. in this catharsis, can a plurality of authentic counter-cultures emerge, infused with a shared consciousness? is this accelerationism? is it a throwback to folk art before neoliberal commodification? is “the adjuster” a cross-cultural badge of solidarity for better work to come?*

or will these cultural artifacts become souvenirs from a strange blip in the timeline? since buried by those in power, willfully ignored even by movement organizers as unserious or problematic, another morbid symptom of making peaceful progress impossible… a guilty pleasure on your break before you’re forced to clock back in.

who knows, the future needs to be constructed.
